Science of Flavors and Aromas

The Slovak-American Cultural Center would like to express our sincere appreciation to all who attended our "Science of Flavors and Aromas" lecture and networking event held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the premises of the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in New York.
Our engaging and interactive presentation commenced with Ivica Labuda, PhD, Georgetown University and Chair of the lecture series at S-ACC, who elucidated the interplay between taste and aroma in creating sensory experiences. Linda Farkas, MS, a flavorist at Lucta Flavors, explained the process of developing novel flavors, balancing science and creativity with consumer preferences. Julie Ann Koval Gurega, MBA, a marketing specialist at Coca-Cola, spoke on the role of flavors in the beverage industry, flavor customization for all-natural juices, and shared insights into consumer trends and market applications.
Following the educational and interactive presentation, guests had the opportunity to participate in taste testing of Fruxi all-natural juices, indulge in delectable homemade treats, and network.
This year marks a significant milestone, as it has been a decade since the Slovak-American Cultural Center launched its annual “Evening with Science” series and almost 60 years since the founding of our non-profit organization!
